Vice President Environment Health and Safety, The Inland Group of Companies
An environment, health and safety executive in the aviation sector, David is a professional industrial engineer (P.Eng.) and Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) with over 25 years of management and executive experience in both the private and public sectors. His academic grounding includes an MBA and Bachelors of both Engineering and Environmental Design Studies.
Beginning in the airline industry in 1996, David’s career path included continuous process improvement, operational quality management, environmental affairs, emergency management, health and safety, and more. He has held several private sector executive positions, including Vice President, Safety Quality and Environment for Jazz Aviation, and currently as group Vice President Environment, Health and Safety for the Inland Group of Companies. Inland provides industry-leading environmental and operational aviation services across North America and Europe. David also held senior roles with the Province of Nova Scotia, including Regional Director Occupational Health and Safety with the Department of Labour and Executive Director with the Department of Justice.
David has specialized expertise in the design and implementation of safety management systems (SMS) and is an advocate for risk and evidence-based approaches to both safety and sustainability. David has served on numerous volunteer forums, including previous chairmanship of the safety subcommittees of both the National Airlines Council of Canada and the US-based Regional Airline Association, and vice-chair of the board of directors for Parachute Canada. David currently serves as a Governor on the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP). David lives with his wife and daughter near Halifax, Nova Scotia.
