HR Director, Health, Wellness & Safety, Shannex Inc.
Currently leading the occupational health team at Shannex Inc. an organization that operates a continuum of services for seniors including retirement living, nursing homes, and home care in Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia; and employing over 5000 staff. Louise establishes the direction for the business to meet regulatory requirements in each jurisdiction while simultaneously identifying appropriate and reflective performance indicators to monitor and evaluate the status of the overall OH&S program, with a significant focus on developing a culture of safety and prevention.
Prior to joining Shannex Louise was part of the prevention team at the Workers’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia, coaching employers exclusively within long term care and home care organizations gaining insight and knowledge as to the challenges, complexities, and opportunities to improve safety outcomes and mitigate financial impacts. Prior to moving to Nova Scotia, Louise served in leadership roles in health and safety in the education sector at Peel District School Board and Toronto Catholic School Board and in the safety profession as a Consultant at Stantec and Marshall Macklin Monaghan engineering firms.
Louise’s practical work experiences are enhanced and complemented by her educational background and professional development pursuits. In particular, she has an undergraduate in Science, a Master’s degree in Public Policy & Law, post-graduate diploma in Environmental Engineering, a certificate in Occupational Health & Safety and has been a Canadian Registered Safety Professional since 2003.
Her experience and education are coupled with her ability to creatively translate the legal health and safety requirements into practical business applications that support the overall promotion of health and wellbeing of an organization.
